Preschool and Pre-K

For children from three to five years, including Rhode Island State Pre-K.

Ready for kindergarten, and excited about it

Preschool is where play turns into early reading, writing and math. Children choose activities, work on projects with friends and take part in teacher led lessons, all aligned with the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards.

We also run Rhode Island State Pre-K classrooms. Children are chosen by a state lottery, and those selected attend free from September through June for a six hour day. Before and after care is available alongside it.

What every week includes

  • A credentialed teacher in every classroom, trained in child development and the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards.
  • Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack, included in tuition.
  • Drop-off from 7:30am and pick-up by 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Open communication with your child’s teacher, so you always know how the day went.
  • Rhode Island Department of Education approved Pre-K classrooms.

Openings change by classroom

Availability varies by age group and changes through the year. Right now we have limited openings for four and five year olds, and the infant and toddler lists are long.

Joining the waitlist does not guarantee a place. It is how we reach you when one opens, and how we understand what families in Providence need.

Questions about preschool and Pre-K

How do I apply for State Pre-K?

Through the Rhode Island Department of Education lottery. The link is on our Admissions page.

Your child can still join our preschool classroom through the waitlist, at our regular preschool rates.

Yes. Pre-K families use a separate before and after care schedule form, which the office will give you.
